Horton Plains

Horton Plains National Park is situated in the Central Province of Sri Lanka of Nuwara Eliya District. Sri Lanka is Highlands along with Horton Plains National Park, the Peak Wilderness Protected Area and the Knuckles Conservation Forest was declared a World Heritage site in 2006. Horton Plains spreads across over 3,169 hectares of the highest tableland of the island. Horton Plains is an eerie, starkly beautiful highland plateau popular with walkers that includes the fabled viewpoint of Worlds End. Horton Plains is well recognized for its rich biodiversity, its flora given to a high level of endemism. 5% of species are found to be endemic to Sri Lanka.
